Our History
More than twenty years ago, the Canadian Cancer Society, spearheaded the idea of forming an organization that would explore fundraising opportunities in federal workplaces. The idea was well received and soon became an organization 16 national health charities strong, each one recognizing that more could be achieved as a partnership than individually.
At that time, Treasury Board regulations allowed only the United Way to raise funds through payroll deduction but after a government issued survey clearly showed employees were excited at the opportunity to include donor choice in their annual campaign, Healthpartners was invited to take part in the federal public service workplace campaign.
Every year since 1998, Healthpartners has proudly participated in the GCWCC (Government of Canada Workplace Charitable Campaign). Canada’s public servants are extremely giving and all of our members are genuinely thankful to be recipients of their kindness.
